Nell Ferrow and a studio of four
Nell trained in architecture, worked for a London practice on other people's houses for eight years, and came back to Oxford in 2016 to work on the kind she grew up in.
A small studio, on purpose
Four of us: Nell, two designers, Maya Iqbal and Tom Redfern, and Sophie Lund who runs the projects and the trades. We take on six whole houses a year and a handful of rooms. That is the number at which Nell can still be in every house every week.
The book of trades has taken ten years to build: two builders, a joiner in Witney, a decorator who has never left a drip, an upholsterer, and the stone yard we have used since the first project.

Park Town appeared in House & Garden in March 2026. The Jericho house was shortlisted for the Oxford Preservation Trust awards in 2025. Nell writes an occasional column for Oxford Living on living with old houses.
Why a year later
Most interiors are photographed the week they are finished, before anyone has lived in them. Ours are photographed twelve months on, with the books and the dog bed and the dent in the sofa. It keeps us honest about what actually works.
